How Carrie Finds Them

Every antique & vintage piece at Veranda begins with a story — usually one that starts at a brocante market, a barn sale in the English countryside, or an estate tucked somewhere between here and the forgotten. Carrie has spent years honing an eye for the authentic — the century-worn patina and timeless patterns of 19th‑century ironstone, the soft fade of lithography on a French épicerie tin, and the quiet stories each vintage piece carries.

She looks for pieces that still carry their original character — not restored to perfection, but honest in their age. A confit pot with a grey glaze worn soft by generations of hands. A terracotta oil jug that crossed the Atlantic still smelling faintly of walnut. These aren’t decorations. They’re artifacts.

Her particular passion is French, English, and Italian antiques — the everyday objects of domestic life that were made to last and somehow did. She sources selectively, choosing in only what she’d put on her own home.

Provenance & Authenticity

We know that buying antiques online requires trust. Here’s how we earn it:

  • Every piece is personally sourced by Carrie and our partners in Europe.
  • Age and origin are noted in each listing based on maker’s marks, construction methods, and regional style.
  • Condition is described honestly — chips, cracks, and wear are photographed and disclosed. That’s part of the story.
  • Questions are always welcome. If you want more photos or details before purchasing, just ask.

Antiques are one-of-a-kind by nature. When something is gone, it’s gone — which is also what makes finding the right piece feel like such a gift.

“I don’t collect things — I rescue them. Every piece that comes through Veranda has earned its place in someone’s home.”
